At Scania, we know that our Super powertrain is fuel-efficient and complements our electric offer in a great way. Now, the world knows it too.

Tommy Durlind, Press Test Coordinator at Strategy & Business Models has been present as the German trade magazines Trucker and VerkehrsRundschau tried trucks from several brands in an extensive comparison test. He is happy to let us know all about our victory in the Green Truck competition of 2024.

Tell us about this competition:

The “Green Truck” was first arranged in 2011, and since then we have had seven wins out of the eight previous tests and nine victories altogether. So we are definitely happy with our track record!

Which truck won? And why?

It was Scania 460 R with the Super 13-litre engine that ensured the order is restored (we were second in 2023…) The winner of “Green Truck” is top performing on fuel consumption – the Scania Super powertrain proved its value here, with its up to 8 per cent fuel saving – but also average speed, AdBlue usage and weight – all contributing to transport efficiency and lesser carbon emission.

What does it mean that we have won?

Since this comparison test – where we are side by side with many of our competitors – has focused on what matters most to our customers, both when it comes to cost and sustainability, it is a clear sign that all the hard work the organisation has put in pays off. I mean, this truck is one of the world’s most fuel-efficient money can buy. Scania truly delivers on our promise. As for myself, that we have developed, produced and delivered such a great truck makes me immensely proud. And I think everyone at Scania should take credit – we are all winners!
